Spring Break! 2012!

Oh how I miss the sunshine already. Spring break this year went better than I could have ever imagined. I couldn't have asked for better people to spend my time with than my best friends. Altough it was a shaky trip down there (from overbooked flights to ambulence calls), the week was well worth the hassle. I got to experience parasailing for the first time which was awesome, as well as go snorkleing and on a moonlight cruise. Spring break 2012 was definetly a success and I couldn't have asked for a better way to bring in the final months of the school year.

Full speed ahead

Softball starts on Monday and only three weeks until spring break. This means the rest of the school year is going to fly. I'm finally starting to get the hang of this class but it's kind of hard to stay focused when all I can picture is laying on the beach in Florida less than a month from now.

On a different note, Taylor just informed me that the girl who only eats nothing but McDonalds chicken nuggets is skinny. I don't believe it.

Oh how I can't wait to be sitting on these beaches.

What's up sophmores?

I hope ya'll are paying attention, here we go.

So the four things we need to cover are simple diffusion, facilitated diffusion, osmosis, and active transport.

Simple Diffusion is basically the movement of a substance across a membrane on its own. It moves from a higher concentration to a lower concentration. Think about when you start to smell perfume from accross the room and you look around wondering who sprayed it. The perfume wasn't sprayed anywhere near you but it reaches you because of diffusion.

Facilitated Diffusion still moves from a high concentration to a low concentration across the  membrane but it needs a little help from protiens to due so.

Osmosis is just diffusion specifically for water.

Active Transport moves from a low concentration to a high concentration (the opposite way of diffusion). It requires energy to make the transport pssible. Energy is required to move the substance against the concentration.

soakin' up the sun

If I had to do the job of any cell organelle, I would deffinetly be the chloroplast. If I was chloroplast, I could bask in the sun all day long and make my own food so I would never go hungry. The chloroplast uses energy from sunlight in order to make food through a process called photosynthesis. It then releases oxygen back into the atmosphere for animals to use.

No Focus

kjfkdsjhfljkdshfkjlsdhflkjsdhflkjsdhflkjsdlkfjhdlfkgskdfhlkjsdfjkf. This is how I feel. Banging my head on the keyboard, it's how I study.

On a different note, our lab was a complete fail. I wish I would have taken chemistry and maybe my head wouldn't be such a jumbled mess. Even if I did understand chemistry, our lab would have failed either way. So I'll just continue to bang my head on the keyboard. kfdjnglkjdfskjfdajldfnj.

one week closer to graduation

So far, I think I'm off to a good start, even though I'm extremelly overwhelmed. Mostly this semester I'm looking forward to learning about the human body. Other than that, honestly I'm not looking forward to many other subjects. Again, I just want to get myself prepared. I'm anxious to see what the first test in this class will be like because I have no idea what to expect. Hopefully it won't be too extreme. Well, see ya next week.

First Post, yeah!

My name is Megan Schnotala, but most of you reading this probably already know that. I enjoy life, liberity, and the pursuit of happiness. After high school I am planning to major in excercise science at Western Michigan University (as of right now) but I can never make up my mind. I feel as if this course will challenge me and prepare me for college and that is what I hope for as well.

That's Me!!
